These records are primarily in French not German,
therefore the French version of names appear in the Catholic Churchbook.
However these same people can be found in some nearby communities where the
German language dominated, thus the names were sometimes found in German. For
example...Jean = Johann, Marguerite = Margaretha, Leonard = Leonhard, Pierre =
Peter etc. Also...in many records these Reebs in Schalbach are spelled as REB
and in the earliest records in the churchbook their name REEB is given in
